12 Days Tanzania Family Safari

Day 1 – Arrival

Upon landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be welcomed and transferred to Moshi or Arusha to relax and recover from your travels.

Overnight: Arusha

Days 2 & 3 – Tarangire National Park

In the morning, you’ll depart for Tarangire National Park, a drive of around 3-4 hours. This park is renowned for its significant elephant population and distinctive baobab trees. Wildlife gathers near the Tarangire River, the park’s sole year-round water source. You can expect to see a rich variety of animals, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, and large herds of elephants. The afternoon includes a game drive.

Day 4 – Lake Manyara National Park & Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast, you’ll head to Lake Manyara National Park, about an hour’s drive away. Spend the afternoon exploring the park, known for its tree-climbing lions and large elephant herds that may come close to your vehicle. Afterward, you’ll continue your journey to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, approximately two hours away.

Overnight: Ngorongoro

Day 5 – Ngorongoro Crater

Spend a full day exploring the Ngorongoro Crater, where nearly all of the wildlife resides within the crater walls, making game viewing easier. Rhinos, lions, and other predators like cheetahs are frequently spotted here. You’ll have lunch by the hippo pond during the day.

Days 6 & 7 – Serengeti National Park

On these days, you’ll travel from Ngorongoro to the Serengeti, a four-hour journey with a stop at Olduvai Gorge, a world-famous archeological site. The Serengeti’s vast plains are home to the wildebeest migration and a wide range of predators such as lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas. Your guide will select prime locations for wildlife viewing based on the season. You’ll witness the diversity of the landscape, from the flat plains to rocky outcrops, known as kopjes, providing shelter for various species.

Overnight: Serengeti

Days 8, 9, 10 & 11 – Zanzibar

On the morning of day 8, you’ll be transferred to Seronera airstrip for your flight to Zanzibar via Arusha. Upon arrival, you’ll be taken to your hotel to unwind. You’ll have four days to explore the island at your own pace, with options like snorkeling, scuba diving, visiting Stone Town, kite-surfing, dolphin swimming, taking a spice tour, or simply relaxing on the beach. Additional activities can be arranged through your hotel at an extra cost.

Overnight: Zanzibar

Day 12 – Departure

You’ll be transferred to Zanzibar International Airport for your flight home.
